It has come to our notice that more and more people are receiving our information from the website alone, and thus forgoing the small cost of subscribing to Share International magazine.
Not everyone can, or does, use the internet, and it is essential to have an outer, physical expression, which can display with photographs, the events of which we speak. That means there has to be a magazine, which of course requires a lot of work from volunteers, and a lot of money to produce. There may be a notion that Hierarchy dishes out money for this work, but it is not the case. Subscriptions to Share International are an essential part of maintaining our work and reaching the public. The cost of the subscription is kept as low as possible, the magazine is not subsidised by advertisements and printing and postal charges are mounting all the time.
Surely we would all agree that all those who seriously believe in this work would want to support the magazine, whether or not they read the information on the internet.
Thank you for your support.
For many years, We, the Masters, have been preparing Ourselves for the time of Emergence, the time, now near, when We will, in group formation, live openly in the everyday world. For Some it will be an experience altogether new. Many, as Masters, have spent all Their time within the Hierarchy and must now learn to work in entirely new ways. Even the use of speech has to be learned and practised, since telepathy has long been the mode used by Us.
At first, and for some considerable time, Our contact will have to be restricted to senior disciples in the various fields of work and to trained personnel involved in the practical fields of administration, especially in food distribution. Many Masters are specialists in administration, while Others engage more readily in teaching. The aim is to work as closely as possible in every field, and as soon as possible with the general public. It is important to emphasise that the Masters’ aim is to stimulate and guide humanity as needed, but to safeguard the essential freewill of men.
Gradually the location of the various Mystery Schools, preparatory and advanced, will become known and many thousands of striving disciples will gravitate to them. There they will receive the training for the first two initiations, and enter the Sanctuary of Hierarchy.
In the beginning We must expect some opposition to the Masters’ presence and ideas, but eventually, even the most diehard fundamentalist of any religion or creed will find it difficult to fault the harmlessness of man’s Elder Brothers.
In due course, the cities of the world will be beautified and transformed. The new Science of Light will transform industry and travel, and the movement of people will bring Unity to the world. People of all nations will work in teams together in service to all. The advice of the Masters will be available, guiding men wisely with a gentle hand.
The presence of even a few Masters among them will have an electrifying effect on thousands of people anxious to serve the needs of the world, and the idea of service will become a new life aim for many. In this way it can be seen that an enormous transformation can be accomplished in a relatively very short period of time. A mass programme of aid to the poor will achieve miracles in countries in Africa and South America, for example. An altogether new sense of the need for haste to rectify the wrongs of the past will ensure an intensity of help unknown today. Inspired by Maitreya and His group, hundreds of thousands of men and women will find their vocation in this way.
We, the Masters, aim only to teach and guide, to show the way for men and protect them from harm. War in all its forms must become a thing of the past but the decision to make it so must be man’s alone. I repeat, Our task is to show the way, to outline the plans, but men alone must embrace each step of the way. Have no fear; all will be achieved. The life ahead for men could not be more bright.
Q. How many television interviews has Maitreya given since the March 2013 issue of Share International?
A. Maitreya has given three more interviews in Russia, making a total of six appearances on Russian television.
Q. Was Maitreya invited to Russia to be interviewed on Russian television?
Q. Did someone from Russia happen to see Maitreya on Brazilian television and decide to invite Maitreya to Russia?
A. No. It was planned. Maitreya’s appearances are planned.
Q. Does Maitreya have more than one interview per week now?
A. No, it varies.
Q. Have all Maitreya’s latest interviews taken place in Russia?
A. The last six have.
Q. Does Maitreya speak Russian when interviewed?
A. Yes, He speaks perfect Russian.
Q. Does Maitreya refer to previous interviews given in Brazil, Mexico and the USA?
A. Not usually.
Q. Are Russian viewers responding well to Maitreya’s ideas?
A. Yes, very well.
Q. Are the interviews broadcast throughout Russia?
Q. Could you say what you think Hugo Chavez’s influence has been in Venezuela and Latin America?
A. I would have thought that his influence in Venezuela is fundamental and long lasting. Other Latin American nations do not have the oil reserves of Venezuela but the immediate response to Chavez’s death of, for example, Bolivia and Argentina, are sincere and full of promise.
Q. Chavez was popular with most Venezuelans but disliked by the American establishment; is it true that the US tried to have Chavez assassinated?
Q. Do you think that Chavez was one of a group of fairly enlightened and relatively advanced leaders who have come to power in ‘recent’ years in Latin America?
A. Yes, clearly so. From his point of evolution he is ahead of most leaders in the world.
Q. Was Hugo Chavez sometimes inspired by a Master or Maitreya – he was apparently generous, altruistic and idealistic.
A. Yes, by the Master Jesus.
Q. There are rumours that a lot of money was syphoned off by the Chavez family from oil reserves. Is this true?
A. Absolutely not. It is anti-Chavez propaganda.
Q. Spring, we hope, is on its way in the northern hemisphere and with it come the three major spiritual festivals of Easter, Wesak and the Christ Festival.
(1) Can we look forward to a significant boost in the spiritual energies transmitted by the Lord Maitreya and the Masters? (2) Could it be that the stimulus provided at this time of the year will speed up the needed changes? Do you think we will see marked changes in 2013 in (3) the effectiveness of people power, (4) genuine moves towards establishing a just settlement in the Middle East, especially Palestine, and (5) a powerful and effective peace movement demanding the end of war?
A. (1) Yes. We are, even now, in a period which the Masters call a ‘spiritual push’. (2) Yes. (3) Yes. (4) No. (5) Yes.
Q. With the resignation of the Pope, is it possible and likely that the Master Jesus will become the new Pope?
Q. Do you think that Pope Benedict changed for the better during his Papacy?
Q. A 10-meter-diameter meteor recently landed in western Siberia killing no one; shattered glass caused many injuries but only 50 people were hospitalised. In more or less the same period a 45-meter asteroid passed relatively close to the Earth. In 2008 a 4-meter-long rock exploded in the sky some 37 kilometers above the Nubian Desert in Sudan. The last large detonation of a 40-meter asteroid was also over an unpopulated part of Siberia in 1908. Do the Masters of our Spiritual Hierarchy and the Space Brothers play any role in diverting meteors from landing in populated parts of the world?
Q. In the section of ‘Letters to the Editor’ (SI, April 2012 issue) there was a letter titled ‘Timely Visit’. In the letter, the man who was confirmed to be the Master Jesus said: “I think that this year, 2012, will be a crucial year. An important year. Something is going to happen. Something positive. It must happen now, otherwise we’re lost. It can’t continue as it is. But there’s hope. The people must play their part.” I wonder if any positive thing has already happened? Could this be the marches and other protests for justice all over the world?
A. Yes, people throughout the world are crying out for change – for justice and sharing, for jobs, a sense of well-being and peace.
Q. Is it correct that Maitreya forecast the fall of Communism?
A. He forecast the break up of the Soviet Union, which is not the same thing.
Q. I read that the coming time is to be the age of women. I also read that the Masters were the inspiration behind the Women’s Movement. Will the Masters guide humanity to create a more balanced attitude towards women?
Q. The austerity measures in Britain are causing misery, suffering and deprivation; how is it possible that the British are not out on the streets in their millions?
A. Perhaps the suffering has not gone far enough yet. The British have a strong sense of national unity and are slow to demonstrate.
Q. Recently, I have learned that there is a Japanese Non Profit Organization which "helps" couples who cannot have children because of wives' physical problem. The way of its assistance is egg donation. A couple receives an egg from an unrelated donor. The donor gives it for free. Our government is co-operative to the activity, and no argument or objection has arisen among people after the donation project was broadcast through television. The TV program also told about Japanese women who went to other countries to give their eggs for profit.
Most people may feel that it is too delicate an issue to raise an objection because they can guess the mind of the woman who wants a child but cannot have one due to her physical problem. Even so, I think that it is not only the misuse of technology and money but also selfish and indiscreet behaviour. The egg donation would generate lots of problems. If a couple receives an egg from an unrelated woman, doesn't it make the work of the Lords of Karma more complicated?
Besides that, it causes a real-world problem. Incest has been forbidden in many cultures for ages. In the near future, it could happen between people without knowing they are half brother and sister from the same mother. In ancient Japan, a male and a female who were from the same father were allowed to marry, while those who were from the same mother were not permitted. I don't know the reason why incest is taboo, but there must be esoteric and realistic reasons. Are there any very critical physical and karmic issues due to incest?
A. The objection would not so much be due to incest possibilities but to karmic considerations. The practice is therefore not recommended by the Masters.
Q. Is the English language eventually going to wipe all the other languages off the planet? Will there be a day when everyone on this planet will only speak English? If not how much longer is the English language’s global domination going to last?
A. To enable easy communications between peoples, English is close to being, and will become, in a simplified form, the lingua franca for the world. But all existing national languages of course will be retained.
In 2009, one of my cousins gave me Benjamin Creme’s book Maitreya’s Mission Volume Two because she thought it could shed some light on a new Buddhist practice we had gotten into together. The book impressed me a lot but I preferred to label Benjamin Creme a kindly crackpot, as I myself claimed to be in full mental health.
But over the next few months several other sources appeared that matched the information given by Creme, to the point that I read the book again considering seriously that what it said could be true. As doubts became unbearable, and hoping to receive a sign I started to invoke the Bodhisattva Maitreya reciting the Lotus Sutra of the Wonderful Law that mentions his name.
I began on a Thursday. A week after on Friday I got into my car and turned on my favourite radio channel. But on that day, the radio had its own way. It started scanning the entire FM band and finally stopped on Radio Ici et Maintenant, where Benjamin Creme was giving an interview on the eve of the annual Paris Conference in March 2010.
Was the radio set by an invisible hand? Was it the sign I expected?

On 20 February 2013, my mother’s funeral day, I asked Maitreya to give me the strength to better control my shock. For, during my father’s funeral, I didn’t control my tears that prevented me to be present at the ceremony. So I felt very guilty.
It was cold but the sun was shining, my sorrow disappeared and I felt a kind of inside happiness. During the ceremony in the church, I fully appreciated the place and the purity of the songs from the little church chorus. When the priest asked us to meditate, I gratefully and warmly thanked Maitreya deeply inside to have given to me this kind of joy and I said the Great Invocation.
During the ceremony, I caught a glimpse of an old man bent with age who silently walked in the left aisle near me and went forward to the choir. He wore a beige raincoat and a hat. When he was in front of the choir, I thought I saw him kneeling, then he prostrated himself face on the floor, his arms out to the sides. He stayed a while in this position then he got up. He genuflected again, and then came back down the same aisle. When he drew level with me, he sat down on a chair in the aisle. He was nearly hidden behind a pillar but I just could see the sleeve of his raincoat.
When we went out of the church to our car, I saw him going out by the side exit. Then I realized that the man, who seemed so aged, was jet-black haired, with a Peruvian-style bun. I never saw his face. My husband and my brother had a glimpse of him and we wondered if he was Maitreya or the Master Jesus?

In 2012 a few co-workers attended a conference about traumatised Palestinian children. Next to me sat a journalist from a well-known Dutch TV programme; she and I chatted and it turned out that her parents had been involved in or were interested in Benjamin Creme’s information. She knew all about Maitreya. Next to the journalist sat another woman about 60 years old; she was very noticeably loud. She was blonde and wore rather colourful clothes. She was very enthusiastic about what the speakers said and let everyone know it!
Was she perhaps the Master Jesus?

Please can I ask something that’s been puzzling me for many months? I was in a launderette that is situated in the basement of my block of flats and one day, having finished my round, I switched on the lights of the long narrow corridor, starting to walk through it; at the exact same time there was a very tall man coming out of the far opposite door which I was heading towards.
The flats are for poor people, such as myself, and I feel a little nervous down there but this man really looked out of place! He looked like a newsreader: good-looking, tall, immaculate suit, young, formal but a friendly expression, fresh, European. Still, at 62 I’ve ‘seen a lot’ and was on guard but, when he was approaching me, he winked at me and smiled!
I looked like a scruff bag, me and my laundry bags. I had just cleaned the laundry rooms, the floors even! And was rather washed out, sweaty, hungry, thirsty, but that wink and sparkle in his eye all of a sudden gave me an energy boost.
But I was left with questions. Who was he? I’ve never seen such people round here in the 25 years I’ve lived here. No one has winked at me for 30 years, least of all looking like I was then!
And the analytical question: I can’t remember him actually passing me at all. The hall is so narrow I’d had to make room for him to pass me, what with my two big laundry bags in both hands. I did look back, still so flabbergasted – but there was no one there.
Am I losing my marbles? But because it left my spirits uplifted, I thought it can’t be that bad.
Might it have been some Master?

PS: I get Share International regularly and it has been most inspiring and educational. Looking back in my youth, I think I have received much help, especially while living in London. By the way, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading Maitreya’s Mission, the three volumes. The best reading so far. No comparison. Thank you!

On Sunday 27 October 2012 around 3pm, my children Luca and Matteo, my mom and myself were at a crossroad of Rue de la Victoire and Rue Hôtel des Monnaies.
Suddenly an old lady, quite large with arched shoulders and leaning slightly forward with short hair, very pure white, and well dressed, was moving towards my mother. She had beige trousers and a blue sweater, and was holding a huge umbrella with many colours. Then she came up to me and asked me for the address of the nearby BRICO [a general DIY chain]. She had an Eastern Europe accent, I thought. I told her how to get there and when our eyes met I knew that something was going on because her eyes were so deep and so full of love. Then she thanked me and before continuing on her way my son Matteo also gave directions and the lady replied: “Thank you, my darling,” but in a voice so soft and strong at the same time and full of love. I offered to accompany her to the place where she had to go, but she replied: “No thank you, I know,” and continued on her way. I told my children: “That lady is Maitreya.” And then turned to my mother saying: “She is the Christ.” I observed her as she suddenly stopped and asked something to two people. Convinced in my heart that she was Maitreya, I decided to follow her and said: “If you want I can accompany you to this place.” And she replied: “No thanks, I know,” so I joined my mother and children.
Can you explain what really happened and if this lady was Maitreya? Since that day, my life has changed, the discomfort that tortured me until now has gone. I had felt like wandering in the desert. My sufferings were mitigated and I finally know where I have to go and what I must do. Since that day, my heart is illuminated. My children are calmer. I would like to share this experience. Thank you very much.

On 11 February 2013, I was coming back from Transmission Meditation in Valencia. From my car I saw in the sky, above a hill known as Monte Picayo, a red light, hovering over it without movement. At first I thought it was a plane, but then I realized that it was not moving and as I continued driving, the light remained there. When I got home, the light was still above the hill. I would like to know if that light was Maitreya’s ‘star’ or a spaceship?

The Deva or Angel filmed by NASA cameras in October 2012 was caught on film again in late February 2013, close to its previous position. Benjamin Creme’s Master confirms that the figure seen again by NASA cameras is the same Deva that was filmed in October.
This photo was taken when I was on my way home from work on 23 August 2012 around 4pm.
I was on the 6th line from Oslo and stopped on Bjornsletta tube station. There was a beautiful rainbow and I saw a man stopping on the platform to take a photo. I was inspired and stopped to take a photo with my iphone.
When I looked at the photo afterwards, I discovered there was an eye staring at me from the sky. I was so fascinated that I took a few more shots.
Can you please tell me, if this is a sign or a message of some kind?

Sweden – These comments were posted on YouTube regarding a UFO sighting on 1 March 2013: “This odd looking ‘star’ was recorded last night around 17.30 to 18.30 pm by me and my girlfriend in Göteborg (Sweden). The object moved extremely slowly and it appeared several hours earlier than other stars. It kept pulsating in various colours at an extremely fast pace. I am not convinced that this is either a star or a planet. It might be that off-course but I am not convinced yet. Some people think this might be Sirius, Nibiru or even a UFO-mothership. What do you think?” (Source: YouTube: UFO-Skywatcher Sävedalen)

Russia – Videos taken of a huge meteorite over Russia on 15 February 2013 show what looks to be a small object colliding with the meteorite as it moves across the sky, causing it to explode and shatter before striking the earth. A Siberian Times newspaper article on the incident asks whether the object striking the meteorite was a Russian missile or “as a raging online debate suggests ‘we were saved by a UFO’ exploding the menacing meteorite seconds before it struck the ground.” (Source: Siberian Times; YouTube: Jason Kirby)

In 2006 New York Post columnist Linda Stasi visited the Monastery of Manoppello, in Italy, while researching her book The Sixth Station, to see the famous Veil of Veronica. The veil was a cloth used by Saint Veronica to wipe the face of Jesus as he was carrying the cross. (Confirmed to be authentic by Benjamin Creme’s Master, SI October 2006.)
Stasi took two photographs of the Veil in quick succession. The first showed the image of Jesus smiling, mouth closed, with his eyes looking at the photographer, while the second, shows his mouth open with teeth visible, and his eyes looking upwards. On showing the digital images to her travelling companion Father Peter Jacob he promptly fainted on the altar. (Source: Coast to Coast AM Radio, USA)

In the summer 2012 my brother was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an incurable disease. In the following months his health deteriorated rapidly and soon he was not able to move his body and could hardly speak anymore. In November during an outing in the woods in his hometown Freising, Germany, with his girlfriend and her parents, some pictures were taken. Most of the photographs show him in his wheelchair with his girlfriend and the pain in their face trying to cope with this tragedy. One picture was taken of the woods without any people in it. On this photograph a remarkable narrow light band is visible. Could you please explain, where this light came from and if there is a meaning behind it?
Name withheld, Germany.

Review of Maitreya’s Mission, Volume Two, by Benjamin Creme
by Carmen Font
Many concerned citizens were looking for answers in 1993, amazed at how the world was going through major changes in the political and economic fields: the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the dismembering of former Soviet republics; the end of apartheid; and the beginning of a deep and widespread economic crash that had started earlier in Japan.
Maitreya’s Mission Volume Two (MMII) not only catered for the information needs of readers preoccupied with current affairs, but also provided a framework and a context in which the deeper causes of these events could be clearly understood. If we were to capture the essence of the more than 700 pages of this volume in a single phrase, it could be: “Every cause has an effect.”
At a time of hectic news, shortly before the internet and instant communication devices took over the way information was produced and exchanged, readers of Maitreya’s Mission Two could enjoy thorough depictions of the state of the world and our relationship with these events. In this second volume of Maitreya’s Mission, readers are made witness to the fact that His concerns and priorities are global in scale. The exoteric events making headlines in the news were responding to the new energies of Aquarius and to the Plan of evolution. The sense of immediacy and transcendence of these events goes beyond their factual or historical nature and become vivid examples of the underlying purpose of life on Planet Earth.
The book is divided into three main thematic areas. The first part, ‘Maitreya and the Emergence’, focuses on the then latest moves towards the externalisation of Maitreya and the Hierarchy at a time of sincere journalistic activity and media interest. We are reminded of the historic conference held in April 1990 in which “Maitreya had made Himself known to a very large group of distinguished people in many countries” (p.15). They met Him in person and received great spiritual experiences. The efforts of the journalists invited to the conference turned out to be relatively ineffective, in that they could not communicate these experiences to their editors and news outlets (p.17).
The reader might feel frustrated at realising that Maitreya would never impose Himself nor infringe our free will, even in those cases where the ‘glaring truth’ is in front of our eyes. But at the same time, a second and further reading of the developments of Maitreya’s Emergence in early 1993 gives us a sense of the enormous strides that Hierarchy was taking towards externalisation and Their loving trust in Humanity. Frustration is not called for as far as the Externalisation is concerned. If Hierarchy were not confident about humanity’s ability to carry out changes in the world, Maitreya would not have taken any step towards His external recognition. This involves a change in focus: instead of grumbling about “why the Emergence is taking so long”, humanity should adopt a stance of proactive and conscious receptivity about the complexity of such an event. That is, we should realise that it is an honour that Hierarchy is presenting us with such direct opportunities to acknowledge Their presence and confront the changes needed in the world.
For those who have read subsequent books by Benjamin Creme and the monthly issues of Share International magazine, or who browse the Share International website, the crescendo of this process of Emergence and ever closer contact of Maitreya with humanity is made evident in Part Two of MMII: press releases and interviews with the Master (p.30-38) on consensus, signs and miracles (p.50) and, very importantly, Maitreya’s forecasts about political changes that are responding to a “new energy of equilibrium that is pervading the planet” (p.89). Almost 20 years have passed since the publication of these forecasts in MMII dealing with the collapse of the economic system based on market forces and commercialisation, the new political scenarios – in which Asian, Latin American and African countries have more geopolitical and economic weight – and social and scientific developments in the fields of education and the technology of light.
With these forecasts, readers can now understand that Maitreya’s mission is taking place in good shape and at a rapid pace. It is never fast enough when one is aware of the suffering of millions of people, but we realise that it is indeed surely and consistently taking place when we bear in mind that, since 2010, Maitreya has already appeared on dozens of media outlets in America, Mexico, Brazil and Russia, and when we see the recent developments in the Middle East. MMII is a central book in Benjamin Creme’s writings since it marks a turning point towards understanding the actual realisation of Maitreya’s emergence onto the physical plane as well as its development into future events that bring us close to a ‘new dawn for humanity’.
Benjamin Creme in Sweden, 1987
MMII holds special significance, too, since it gathers together Maitreya’s teachings on important matters such as Honesty of Mind, Sincerity of Spirit and Detachment that have so profoundly influenced our internal discipline towards growing in consciousness.
Part Three of MMII follows this trail and devotes itself extensively to all essential matters of discipleship and service. Benjamin Creme’s talk on the ‘Overcoming of Fear’ is by now a classic reference and a milestone in how to experience the Self devoid of the glamour of fear. “I believe it is possible [to overcome fear] if we can come into relationship with our Self as the Self, and not with that accumulation of experiences that we call ‘me’ in which fear is inevitable because it is created by thought” (p.287). This chapter, as well as Chapter 11, ‘Evolution’, and Chapter 12, ‘Growth of Consciousness’, is essential reading for anyone interested in a description and concrete ‘hints’ about the pitfalls and the dynamics of the Evolution of Consciousness: “The quality of your experience of the world depends absolutely on your conscious awareness. Your conscious awareness depends on the quality of the instrument of awareness, your vehicles, physical, emotional and mental” (p.347). Thus the actual practice of honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment that Benjamin Creme spells out for us become a guiding force in the path of discipleship.
Chapter 13 is devoted to the ‘Seven Rays’ and has become basic reference reading for anyone interested in studying the qualities of each ray and how these qualities are expressed in individuals according to their point in evolution. The book includes a helpful appendix with a list of initiates and their ray structures which has subsequently been updated for ease of reference.
Benjamin Creme’s further insights into Transmission Meditation in Chapter 14 put the emphasis on its service aspect vis-à-vis the development of the disciple: “The disciple is someone who knows there is a goal and who seeks to further his evolution himself in a highly conscious manner. The goal he seeks is, of course, perfection” (p. 473).
Transmission Meditation assists us in this goal because it provides a platform for training our focused attention while allowing us to participate in a specific path of service. Even readers who are familiar with the interplay between meditation and service will find great value in revisiting this chapter and its exploration in the requisite mechanisms of self-consciousness. The long series of questions and answers about relationships and the importance of harmlessness broaden the scope and the instruments available towards a greater recognition of ourselves as souls.
The two last chapters of MMII give continuity to this journey into soul consciousness by highlighting the work ahead for us towards group initiation. Benjamin Creme reminds us that this cannot be imposed as a set of rules or regulations, but rather comes as the result of a loving motivation: “When the group sees the purpose and goes forward and totally absorbs itself in the purpose, then all these other things [group conflicts] take care of themselves” (p.600).
A wonderful “grand finale” for MMII is the keynote talk ‘The Call to Service’, where Benjamin Creme delves into the significance of right motive and steadfastness as the main enabling forces that sustain a disciple’s service and his or her impact on group work and the world at large.
There is a very distinct foundational quality in MMII that inspires and delights the reader in every one of its chapters. It is, in a real sense of the word, a central book in the Benjamin Creme bibliography in providing an enormous wealth of relevant information, both historical and educational, that serves the disciple and the casual reader. It sets the tone and pace for a fascinating work in progress into further materialising and participating in Maitreya’s Mission.

We present a selection of quotations on the theme of “Make it known”. The quotations are taken from Maitreya (Messages from Maitreya the Christ), Benjamin Creme’s Master (A Master Speaks), and Benjamin Creme’s writings.
Make known to all that I am here, and pave smooth My Path. My Plan is to release into the world a certain Teaching, which will show men that there exists a new approach to Living, a new way forward into the future time. May you be among the first to recognise Me, and through you I may work. Take upon yourselves this task. There is none higher which you could do in this life. Commit yourself to this work and serve your brothers. (Maitreya, from Message No.5)
Tell all who will listen that the Expected One is here, ready to begin, openly, His Mission. That He relies on the men and women of goodwill to work with Him for peace and justice, freedom and love. Tell them this. Tell them that Maitreya has the simple answer for the world’s woes. That sharing will engender the trust that will open the door, and the hearts of men, to blessed peace. Then will you see the flowering of the human spirit in brotherhood and co-operation. Then will the problems and blockages melt away, overcome in overflowing goodwill. (Benjamin Creme’s Master from ‘The ending of war’)
Many today rejoice at the promise which My Presence brings, but many more by far await still these glad tidings. Take upon yourselves, My friends, this task: Make it known that I am here, and embrace My Cause. Work thus for your brothers and know the joy of Service. (Maitreya, from Message No.115)
Maitreya has said that the most important thing you can do at the present time is to make His presence known. It is the number one priority for all spiritual groups who can believe it at any level – either as total, or even as five per cent, conviction that it is true. Then you are helping Maitreya, and … helping your own evolution: there is, inevitably, a karmic benefit from every spiritual action you make. (Benjamin Creme, SI, September 1993)
The time is short before [Maitreya’s] open appearance. Take heart from this and quicken your service on His behalf. Make known that He is among you and stir the hearts of those who know not yet these glad tidings. Fulfil your purpose and redeem the promise which you, long ago, have made. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The wonder at the door’)
The opportunity to work for the transformation of the world, for the saving of humanity, the lower kingdoms, the Plan of Evolution, is a gift of grace, an opportunity never before offered to so many. I know it is easier to believe than to act on the belief, but if you believe it at any level, make it known at that level. This will be the only opportunity you will have to do that. When Maitreya comes forward, millions of people will gather round Him, the world will be transformed really rather quickly – but you have the chance to know beforehand, and to create the climate of hope and expectation which is required. (Benjamin Creme, SI, October 1999)
Make it your task to tell men that I am here, that I am working for them, for their future, for the future of all men and all things in the world. Make known My Presence among you, and be delivered of all that is useless in the past. Make known My Presence, and be assured that My Love will flow through you and light a path before you for your brothers and sisters. Do this work and help them and Me. My task is but beginning. When completed, I shall look back on this time as one of kindling Light in the hearts of the few who sought to serve their brothers. May you be one of them. (Maitreya, from Message No.6)
Many are the ways to serve but one among all today has priority: the Christ needs your willing help. Tell the world of His presence and His imminent emergence and aid Him more than you could know. Build together the thoughtform of this event and create a climate of hope. More than anything, this will ensure His smooth re-entry into a troubled and chaotic world. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The people’s voice’)
We are living in momentous times; I cannot say it strongly enough. This is a time unlike any there has ever been before. I doubt if this particular opportunity for service has ever been presented to a group before. Many times in His Messages Maitreya has said: “This is an opportunity for service unlike ought seen before.” If He says it, you can be sure it is a reality. Never have so many people had this opportunity for service, this opportunity – at their level – to do something of major importance. That is why groups like this should recognize the opportunity, and the privilege given by it, to do their very best to live up to the opportunity presented and not waste it in competition or greed, or simple self-awareness and self-contemplation – which everyone has moments of but which, with dedication to the work, should be very rarely seen. (Benjamin Creme, The Art of Co-operation)
My plan is that you should see Me soon. With your help this may be so. I require the creation of a certain trust, an expectancy and hope. In this way no force need be used. My Law forbids such force. Therefore, My friends, the task is yours to grasp. Make known the fact that I am among you and create the climate in which shortly I may be seen. That will not be as difficult as you might think, for mankind today stands on the verge of a revelation of its true nature and worth. My Presence among you makes this so. Your brothers will thank you for the work you do. (Maitreya, from Message No.58)
***Many there are who accept and believe that the Christ is in the world, who await impatiently His emergence into the open, yet who do no more than wait and wish, leaving the work of preparation to others. Sad it is that thus they waste the opportunity to serve uniquely at this unique time, a time like none before and none to follow.
My earnest wish for these is this: that they seize this opportunity to be of service to the Christ, and to their brothers and sisters who know not yet that He is among us. Tell them what you believe: that the Great Lord is here; that Maitreya knocks loudly upon the gate. Very little time remains to do this and prepare them for this precious experience. Seize the time and act. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The requirements of the future’)
Carefully, under Law, do I show My face. Naught obstructs this progress but the creation of a pool of Hope, an air of expectation. Create this, My friends, and help My Cause. Make known the fact of My Presence to all who will listen, and welcome the New Time. Confirm for yourselves the reality of My Return among you and begin the building of the New World. I invite you to share with Me in this vital task and to enter into the Higher Service. Many among you are afraid to speak. Many hope that My Presence may indeed be true but fear the laughter of their brothers. My friends, your brothers need the hope that this message brings, to lift them once again into the Lighted Way. Spare not your efforts on My behalf, and share with your brothers that which you believe. No higher work can you do for Me. (Maitreya, from Message No.125)
***I am 100 per cent convinced because of my experiences over many years but even if you are only 5 per cent sure – do what I am doing – make it known to the best of your ability – tell people, talk to the media, write articles, hold meetings! Tell everyone who will listen that this event is happening. Simply tell what you know, or what you believe.
If you are somewhat convinced (it doesn’t matter if you do not know all the answers, just say you don’t know)
tell what you believe. In this way you are bearing witness and people will listen to you. They may not necessarily be convinced, but they hear the information. Their minds become more open to the possibility. That is the important thing. (Benjamin Creme, SI, September 2003)
If you would serve Me and serve the world, make known, My friends, that I am here. In this way can you build the sure wall of Hope against which the tide of fear will beat in vain. (Maitreya, from Message No.69)
The importance of being alive at this time is that it provides to all the opportunity to serve the Plan and the planet as never before. No one, today, should feel excluded from this unique opportunity, however humble or restricted their circumstances – the planet belongs to all and the Plan involves all. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘The choice is man’s’)
Maitreya, Himself, stands at the door, His hand uplifted to knock. His signs increase apace as He awaits recognition. Welcome Him to your heart and ease His entry; let Him work through you. Remember that your brothers, also, deserve to know the Great News; leave them, and your sisters, not in the dark. We have reached the eleventh hour. The destined time is upon us. The long wait is all but over. Harness now your strength for the great work ahead. The times are as never before. The angelic myriads tremble in expectation. Maitreya’s warriors for Truth tighten Their girths and assemble behind Him. (Benjamin Creme’s Master, from ‘Maitreya at the door’)
When you see Me, you will know that I have been always with you, never far from your awakened heart. Know this and that in this coming time I shall never leave you, shall be with you always, to the end of the Age. The time is short indeed till God’s day of triumph. Believe this and work as one to tell the world that I am among you. Do this for Me, My friends, and know the true joy of service to your brothers. I call on you to make known at this late date that I, the Lord of Love, now walk among you. My friends, the time is short. Many hands and many voices are needed to proclaim this truth. I know already those on whom I may count. A final effort, My friends, and all will be as I have promised. (Maitreya, from Message No.137)
Hugo Chavez (1954-2013)
Hugo Chavez was a simple man who became a national hero, much loved by the majority of the poorer people of Venezuela. He is said by Western media commentators to have been ‘controversial’, suggesting some failures or outlandish behaviour on his part. He was a nationalist who thought in global terms. He was a simple man from simple beginnings, who took upon himself, through love of his country and people, the role of benefactor. He was a man of great ideals who sought to reverse the terrible poverty of millions of his fellow countrymen, to stand up for them and their right to life.
Chavez used, as is well known, the profits of the huge oil resources of Venezuela to overcome the poverty that roused the ardour of his compassion. For this he was loved by his people and loathed by those greedy forces whose hatred of ‘socialism’ retards the transformation for the better of this world. He was a hero and a democrat, who sought power only for the benefit of his brothers and sisters.
He is accused by his enemies of leaving his country, potentially rich, with enormous debts. But these accusations come from countries like the US and Britain and others who themselves have enormous debts. Britain owes billions and US debts are measured in trillions. Other countries have their poor, but they do not have a Chavez to support them.
Interview with James Balog
by Jason Francis
James Balog has been a leader in photographing, understanding and interpreting the natural environment for three decades. He has a graduate degree in geography and geomorphology and is an avid mountaineer. To reveal the impact of climate change, Balog in 2007 founded the Extreme Ice Survey (EIS), the most wide-ranging, ground-based, photographic study of glaciers ever conducted. The project is featured in the highly acclaimed documentary Chasing Ice, which has won numerous awards worldwide. Balog is also the author of eight books; his most recent, Ice: Portraits of Vanishing Glaciers, was released in the fall of 2012. Jason Francis interviewed James Balog for Share International.
Share International: What prompted you to document the world’s changing climate when you were initially a climate change skeptic?
James Balog: I was a skeptic because I thought the science was based on computer models. I thought perhaps the issue was being trumped up as an activist cause. And, thirdly, it had not occurred to me that humans were perhaps capable of changing the basic chemistry and physics of this planet. I know this subject area pretty well, but at the time, 15 or 20 years ago, the idea of massive systemic anthropogenic change was not really commonly understood. And I did not understand it.
So I took the time to study the record of ancient climate that was preserved in the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica. I realized that in fact there was empirical evidence of how the climates had changed over time and how different today’s climate is compared to how it naturally should be. Once I saw that there was a precise, tangible and empirical record of climate in the ice sheets, I understood that a lot of my previous knee-jerk skepticism was wrong and this was not about computer models. In fact, humans were changing the basic chemistry of the planet and I needed to revise my thinking. That was in the late 1990s. Then I was trolling around trying to figure out how I, as an environmentally concerned photographer, would make a photographic study of this subject. And I kept coming back to the ice. I couldn’t see any other way to do it but the ice.
I got a call from the New Yorker magazine one day and they gave me an assignment in Iceland. I had the chance to turn that into a National Geographic assignment that suddenly got a lot bigger. That all led to the Extreme Ice Survey, and the rest is history.

SI: What techniques depicted in your documentary Chasing Ice, do the Extreme Ice Survey use to document the world’s vanishing glaciers?
JB: The film is a cinematic study of what my team and I have been doing in this project called the Extreme Ice Survey. EIS is a multi-continental study of how the ice is retreating as a consequence of climate change. We have time-lapse cameras deployed in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland and in Nepal by Mount Everest. These cameras are photographing every 20, 30 or 60 minutes, making a record of how the landscape is changing.
The film team started their coverage right at the beginning of the project and they followed us for about two-and-a-half or three years in the field. They watched what we were doing and made a record of the various adventure, technical and human dramas that were part of this. The film digs into the back-story behind the people and the experiences, and to some degree into my family and how this affected my family life and health. It makes the drama of the team and its story and the glaciers come alive. The main characters are the glaciers, the landscape, but they work in tandem with the human story. It’s been a combination of the landscape story and the human story that a lot of people find pretty compelling.
SI: How many locations has Extreme Ice Survey gone to in order to document receding glacial ice?
JB: The glaciers are scattered in the high mountains and the polar regions as well. We can only check in on a few locations. I am not purporting to be making an exhaustive encyclopedic study of the behavior of all the regions of the world, let alone all the glaciers. But the visualizations we are creating are built on the back of the massive scientific record that has been compiled by researchers from all around the world, from on-the-ground and satellite observations. It’s very well understood that in the vast majority of places outside east Antarctica, glaciers are retreating. There is a little bit of glacier advance in the Karakoram Range of Pakistan and in mountain ranges in Central Asia, but for the most part the ice is shrinking dramatically around the world and it’s a consequence of changing temperature and precipitation.
SI: Why are glaciers important?
JB: Glaciers are the canary in the global coal mine. They are a three-dimensional, visible manifestation of climate. They react on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly basis to the environmental conditions around them. It’s a place where you can see the effects of climate change in action. A lot of climate change that is going on around us is expressed in ways that are hard for people to grasp. Is it raining harder right now than it was before when a storm comes up the east coast of the United States? Is it drier this July in Utah because of climate change? These questions are based on measurements. You can’t see it, but in ice you can see how a changing weather and climate system affects something in three dimensions. Any child understands when ice melts. You put an ice cube in the hand of a one-year-old and they understand the relationship between your body heat and the melting of that ice cube.
SI: In the past, glaciers have receded and returned. What makes the loss of glacial ice today indicative of something more permanent?
JB: It’s connected to a radical, extreme increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. In fact, over the past thousand years the Earth has been cooling off. If the air was responding to natural rhythms it is well understood from the temperature record from the ice sheet that we should be sliding into a new ice age. In fact, temperatures started turning around and went shooting up over the past century, particularly over the last 40 or 50 years. That is directly linked, through an enormous number of scientific studies, to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

SI: To what extent does the loss of glacial ice have a reciprocal effect by worsening global warming?
JB: There are a lot of issues tangled up in that question. One is the loss of the Arctic sea ice. When you lose sea ice cover in the Arctic you change the reflective characteristic of a huge part of the Earth. You start absorbing more heat into the ocean water. That in turn alters the circulation of the atmosphere and changes the behavior of the weather systems of the northern hemisphere. That’s a reciprocal relationship of the sort you are talking about.
The next thing is, if glaciers on land melt it puts water into the oceans, and sea level rises. As sea level rises you wind up with a greater capacity to absorb heat into the ocean. The more heat absorbed into the ocean makes for a more violent atmosphere. Thirdly, higher sea levels result in coastal storms where hurricanes and nor’easters [powerful storms along the upper east coast of the US and Canada] have a much greater impact on low-lying areas than they did when sea levels were just a few inches lower.
SI: At what rate is glacial ice being lost? Could we completely lose the world’s glaciers?
JB: You often hear people say: “Well, if the Antarctic sheet melts it will raise sea levels 270 feet and Greenland will raise it 30 feet” or whatever. That’s really not the issue. We are in the process right now of losing a huge amount of ice in the mountains of the world in Alaska, western Canada, the Alps, the Andes and the Himalayas. Those glaciers are shrinking. The glaciers will probably, in some cases, in the relatively near term, turn into just scraps of what they used to be. Here in the United States we have a national park called Glacier National Park in Montana. It’s generally believed it will be ice-free in about 40 or 50 years because of glacial recession.
The big ice sheets are a different story. It would be an apocalyptic turn of events if we lose the Greenland ice sheet. If we don’t have ice in Greenland we will have a greenhouse effect that will be so catastrophic we probably won’t be able to live here in North America. It would be a crazy turn of events and I don’t think anybody is predicting that. I am certainly not projecting that. Similarly with Antarctica. It would take apocalyptic changes in the world to de-glaciate Antarctica. But in the relatively smaller glaciers – these are not small glaciers; the glaciers of Alaska and the Alps are big glaciers – we may be losing major portions of them over the coming decades and centuries….
