 Shivalingam manifested by Sai Baba
During the 2006 festival of Shivarathri the great spiritual teacher Sai Baba manifested from his mouth a golden lingam at His ashram in Puttaparthi, India.
A vast gathering of devotees poured into the ashram from all corners of India and abroad to witness the event. Shivarathri – the festival sacred to Shiva, celebrated at the new moon in February – is the auspicious night when the Hindu god is said to walk the Earth. Devotees stay awake all night to sing devotional songs.
Sai Baba has said: “Just as the OM is the sound symbol of God, the Linga is the form symbol or the visible symbol of God.” It is only in the last few years that Sai Baba has resumed manifesting the lingam in public at Shivarathri.
