Without doubt the most important problem facing humanity in the area of health is the newly discovered virus giving rise to loss of immunity in the blood cells, the so-called AIDS. For many, the emergence of the AIDS virus is yet another sign of the wrath of God, and just punishment of evil-doers who ignore His Commandments.

A saner approach would be to see AIDS as a result of man’s inability, as yet, to handle the new incoming forces which impinge on all, and which, in a few unfortunate cases, have led through over-stimulation to the creation, for them, of a nightmare, and for humanity as a whole of an urgent major problem. A more tolerant view of this tragedy would be to see its rapid spread as the result of the altogether more open attitudes towards sexual expression which have been adopted in many countries in recent years, and which have brought much benefit, in terms of social acceptance, to sexual minority groups. That this ‘permissiveness’ has led to such unforeseen results is an indication of the need for balanced and gradual change. It should not be seen, however, as an opportunity to apportion blame or to castigate as evil those engaged in practices other than one’s own. Care and common sense are crucial components of a healthier attitude to this new disease.

Mind over matter

With cure we are in safer waters, for all would agree on the urgent need to halt its spread. Unhappily, no easy answer presents itself as yet, nor will an answer be forthcoming until the cause is known. Man is far from realizing the effect on his physical body of his growing power of mind and of its ability to cure or kill. Not for nothing, however, is the saying "Mind over Matter" known to all the race. Mankind is entering a period in which his latent powers of mind will be established in all their glory, creating for his delight and use the products of his soul’s purpose and joy.

For the present, however, his wayward mind has set a trap for his unruly instincts and wrought of his imbalance a Pandora’s Box. The minds of some have been invaded by urgent desire and have turned an impulse of beauty into fear and dread.

Amelioration

Not for long, though, need man await amelioration of his plight. Serums will be found which will halt to some degree AIDS’ onwards spread. But total cure will not be achieved till man has set his mind and world to right and established a new relation to his brother and himself.

That this will not be easy must be said. Powerful indeed are the forces ranged against this change, and ancient laws, transgressed, exact their due toll. Man’s illnesses result from man’s imperfect use of the energies of his soul which, inhibited or squandered, find a deviant path for their expression and create dis-ease.

A new and clearer understanding of how man functions is needed and is on its way. This will reveal the intricacies of his energetic network and the inter-relatedness of all the parts. The roles played by man’s different bodies, as vehicles of the soul, will become known and understood, and life-styles will be adapted to ensure their proper use. This time is not yet but not so far off as some might fear. The advent of Maitreya and His group of Masters will accelerate the speed of change. Their stimulus will bring enlightenment and a readier acceptance of the required adjustments. Gradually, the old rhythms and attitudes will die out and a new and saner outlook and mode of living will bring man into right relationship with himself and others, allowing him at last to find his feet on perfection’s path.
