A: Yes, this is a common ploy by the forces of materiality. They often imitate the methods used by the Hierarchy of Light to snare the unwary. The best defense against deception is to examine carefully one's motives and to keep them pure and altruistic. The forces of darkness cannot work or influence where the light and love of the soul dominates our actions. Objectivity and selflessness are the keynotes of soul-inspired actions and ideas. When this is the case one is automatically protected. 

Q. Can you say something about the effect of the Love energy of the Christ? 

A. Love is a great impersonal energy, and released into the world by the Christ its effect is twofold. It takes all of the Christ’s skill in action to ensure its correct absorption, because while it can and does stimulate goodwill, at the same time it can stimulate the opposite of that, which is hatred. It is essentially impersonal. All men will feel, and do feel now, this energy - the good and the bad, the altruistic and the selfish; all of us feel and react to this energy in one way or another. A tremendous intensification of these qualities is taking place and will continue.

This energy of Love is the Sword of Cleavage. A great polarisation will take place in humanity, between those who are ready to go forward with the Christ, into the future, on the only rational basis of sharing and co-operation for the good of all, creating right relationships; and those who are holding on to the old separatist ways, who are ready (though they wouldn’t see it in these terms, it would be the inevitable result) to plunge the world into chaos, and war - a war which now could annihilate the planet. Mankind will soon see that there is no alternative to sharing the produce of the world. Every other method has been tried and failed, and has led inevitably to war, suffering, degradation and misery. That is the choice which lies before humanity, and which the Christ will present. In pure black and white, mankind will now see, is now seeing, the alternatives: sharing, justice, right relationship - or annihilation. There is no alternative.
